DESCRIPTION:The next Passport to College State Conference will be held on May 9-10\, 2018 at the University of Washington-Tacoma. Conference attendees will have access to a full day of professional development opportunities on May 9 including an in-depth morning plenary session\, afternoon workshops and an early evening professional networking event! \nOn the morning of May 10 conference attendees are encouraged to join a celebration of the Passport program\, past and future. Important information will be communicated about Passport program updates and coming expansion due to the passage of 2SSB 6274. \nRegistration is now open! \n  \nMAY 9: AT A GLANCE\nWashington State’s Passport to College Promise Program is designed to strengthen the post-secondary pipeline for students who have experienced foster care. The Passport to College State Conference builds the capacity of professionals supporting education access and success for Washington’s current and former foster youth by providing opportunities to: \n\nConnect with other professionals committed to strengthening the post-secondary pipeline\nShare promising strategies and best practices aimed at improving the educational outcomes of youth in and alumni of care\nAcquire skills\, tools and resources that advance professional development and program performance\nInspire one another with stories of success and ideas for innovation\n\nThis convening offers the 50+ state colleges participating in the program\, community-based organizations\, government agencies and policy makers the opportunity to provide cross system training\, share best practices and develop strategic relationships aimed at strengthening the post-secondary pipeline for current and former foster youth. \n  \nMAY 10: AT A GLANCE\nJoin the Washington Student Achievement Council and College Success Foundation to celebrate the Passport program\, past and future. We will: \n\nReflect on 10 years of improving student outcomes and what we have learned\nCommunicate information about Passport program updates and important changes\nCelebrate the passage of 2SSB 6274 which provides for major program expansion and begin a discussion about implications for students and stakeholders\n\nThis celebration will be followed by an afternoon training specifically for post-secondary partners related to program requirements and implementation.
