DESCRIPTION:  \n \nBig changes are coming this fall for 2024-25 financial aid applications! In this session\, we will discuss the FAFSA Simplification Act\, best practices in implementing changes\, and how to communicate changes to partners\, students\, and their families. We will also share free resources to support you as you help students take their next steps. \nPresenters: \nChristina Winstead (She/Her)\, Associate Director\, College Access Initiatives\, WSAC\nChristina Winstead is the Associate Director for College Access Initiatives at the Washington Student Achievement Council. She has over 20 years of experience in higher education. Christina graduated from The Evergreen State College with a bachelor’s degree and from Seton Hall University with her master’s degree in counseling and her education specialist degree in professional counseling. \nMaria Rebecchi ( She/Her)\, Director\, Scholarship & Financial Aid Education\, CSF\nMaria has been a practitioner in the field of financial aid for over 30 years. She has spent two-thirds of her career at higher education institutions and the last third at nonprofit organizations working to change systems and provide direct services to students. As a first-generation\, low-income immigrant herself\, Maria focuses on low-income\, first-generation students and their supporting adults who may experience additional barriers in navigating the complexities of financial aid.
