Working With and Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth in Foster Care

LGBTQ+ youth are overrepresented in the foster care system, and often experience discrimination and rejection at a higher rate than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. Professionals who work with these youth need supportive resources and educational information about how to support LGBTQ+ foster youth so they can play an active role in promoting their healthy development and well-being in postsecondary settings and beyond. The primary objective of this workshop is to provide an interactive, experiential training that provides an opportunity for professionals to learn strategies for building support and acceptance for LGBTQ+ youth in care.
